Behind the Scenes with Bob Hoffman

Although usually found behind the camera, we managed to get Bob Hoffman, our company owner, into the spot light long enough to share about his past and his life long love affair with images, both moving and still.

Bob Hoffman, founder and owner of Bob Hoffman Photography and Video, was just a ninth-grader when he was introduced to the world of photography. Bob was enrolled in one summer school class in photography and fell in love. At 16, he conjured up the courage to submit his photos into a county fair, won several ribbons and received praise for his works.

When asked how he evolved his passion into a business plan, he had one intention: to seize the opportunity to be successful for a living while interlacing what he loves. He wanted to be able to turn his passion into a way of supporting himself and look where he is now! Bob stated, “The two intertwine and when you love what you do, it automatically takes over your life. Then you can’t distinguish where ‘work’ ends.” Bob continues to find inspiration in the still life photography of Edward Weston, landscape photography by Ansel Adams and portraits by Irving Penn and Richard Avedon.

Bob recalls, “The most beautiful location I have ever had the honor of shooting at is ‘Anguilla,’ a small island gem found in the Caribbean. If you haven’t been there, you must.”

And when asked what makes him proud of the service he provides his clients, he stated, “We offer people a passion for work, creativity and reliability because when people hire us, they have confidence that we’ll follow through with everything; their minds are at ease.”

Chula Vista's American Idol: Jessica Sanchez

Chula Vista resident, Jessica Sanchez, made it to the top three on American Idol this past week. Bob Hoffman Video & Photography had the honor of documenting her hometown visit. We were awestruck at how many fans came to see her.

Arnold De Guzman, BHVP videographer, shares a bit of his experience:
"It's always great to see how much support the hometown fans have and it was such a good turnout. Wow! Jessica is proven to be a talented singer and she's definitely worthy of becoming our American Idol!"

"I heard there were as many as 7,000 people in attendance! She's an amazing singer and of course, she seemed genuinely excited and thankful for the support of her community. Her loyal fans showed up cheering with supportive words, designed shirts and holding up creative signs," says Bryan Harrold, BHVP photographer.

Be sure to cast your votes for Jessica this week and support another San Diegan American Idol winner! Idol airs at 8pm, Wednesday & Thursday on FOX.

Above is just a snapshot of the pictures we took; check back for more pictures later this week.
